A boy died after falling from an upper floor in south London, police said.

Officers were called to reports that a child had fallen from the upper floor of an apartment on Hotspur Street in Kennington shortly after 4.20pm on Friday, the Metropolitan Police said.

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) also attended.

In a statement, police said: “Despite their efforts, the child was pronounced dead at the scene.

“At this early stage there is nothing to indicate that the incident is suspicious, however inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.”

Officers said the boy’s family has been informed.

There are cordons in the area.
