2024 Monaco Grand Prix FP2 report and highlights: FP2: Local hero Charles Leclerc sets the pace during busy second practice in Monaco by Hamilton and Alonso

The drivers clearly pressed on as the session progressed, with Yuki Tsunoda, Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen among those who hit the walls, although they all escaped without significant consequences. Hamilton, for his part, managed to get within two tenths of Leclerc’s best time.

The Monegasque’s lap of 1m 11.278s remained unbeaten for the rest of the hour, with Hamilton having a decent start in P2 ahead of Fernando Alonso in third for Aston Martin. Verstappen, who had a small run-in with Yuki Tsunoda in the closing stages, feeling that he was blocked by the Japanese driver, took fourth place.
