Kabosu, the dog behind the famous ‘Doge’ meme, dies at 18

Kabosu, the funny Shiba Inu dog behind the famous “doge” Internet memes, is now looking askance at God: he died, according to his heartbroken owner.

You’ve probably come across Kabosu’s photo online at some point: she’s that sideways-looking dog with a skeptical expression, who blew up big time in 2013 on Tumblr and all those online hangouts, earning her the title of “doge.” “

Atsuko Satothe owner of Kabosu from Sakura, Japan, shared the sad news in a heartfelt blog entry Friday… writing: “She passed away peacefully, almost as if she was sleeping, as I gently caressed her.”

As translated by the AFP news agency, he continued: “I think Kabo-chan was the happiest dog in the world. And I was the happiest owner.”

Kabosu caused quite a stir online: this puppy’s face appeared on endless social media posts, and his mug even became the face of a cryptocurrency, Dogecoin.

In 2021, someone spent a whopping $4 million on a non-fungible token (NFT) of that iconic image.

Today Kabosu, a friend and shared inspiration to our community, passed away peacefully in her arms. The impact this dog has had on the entire world is immeasurable.

She was a being who only knew happiness and unlimited love.

Please keep your spirit and your family in…

Kabosu had already had some health problems in 2022… she was diagnosed with leukemia and liver disease, and Sato later told AFP that the “invisible power” of internet fans’ prayers helped her get through.

Sato said in February that Kabuso was 18 years old.
