EBRD appoints Hüseyin Özhan as acting general manager for Central Asia

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has appointed Hüseyin Özhan as acting director general for Central Asia. He will succeed Zsuzsanna Hargitai, who has been appointed Director General of Finance and SME Development at the EBRD headquarters in London.

Özhan, a Turkish national, will take up his new position on June 1, 2024 and will continue to reside in Almaty. He will oversee the Bank’s operations in Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Özhan will also continue to work in his current role as EBRD Director for Kazakhstan, where he manages the Bank’s largest and longest-running banking operation in Central Asia.

Mr. Özhan has a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Mathematics from Macalester College in Minnesota, USA, a master’s degree in International Trade Finance and is a PhD candidate from Yeditepe University in Türkiye.

To date, the Bank has invested €19.5 billion across nearly 1,100 projects in Central Asia.
