Immigration security protects 22 people in Kampala suburbs


KAMPALA – A total of 22 people identified as illegal immigrants were captured during a security operation in the suburbs of Kampala city.

The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control reports that the accused were chosen on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 by the police team that combed the suburbs of Wandegeya and Kamwokya.

Among the people arrested who did not have valid permits or passes were Indians, Pakistanis, Lebanese and Sri Lankans, according to a publication that the Directorate shared on the social network X.

At the time of filing this report, the investigation was still ongoing.

DCIC is a public service institution under the Ministry of Home Affairs responsible for managing migration to and from Uganda.

Both National Citizenship and DCIC are responsible for border management, visa issuance, processing of citizenship applications and deportations.
