Chelsea have narrowed their list to four names as they try to appoint a new manager but could lose their preferred option.

The Blues have been scouring the market for the past few days since Mauricio Pochettino left by mutual consent. Chelsea officials drew up a comprehensive list of options.

They have now focused their search on just a handful of names in the hope of appointing a new coach as soon as possible. According to The Telegraph, Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeness and Girona’s Michel have been eliminated from the running, as both had previously been considered by the Blues.

That leaves just four names on the shortlist: Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna, Leicester’s Enzo Maresca, Brentford’s Thomas Frank and one mystery name who has yet to be made public. McKenna initially emerged as one of his favorites following his work on Portman Road.

However, both Brighton and Manchester United remain interested in him. McKenna recently spoke out and suggested that speculation about his job was natural.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “The club has such a positive season and such a bright future ahead of it. “We’ve achieved so much, it’s been an incredible two years, and when you have those two years there’s always speculation and things like that, it’s happened. every summer.

“But I know that everyone is looking forward to the season, I know that the club is on a fantastic path and everyone is looking forward to next season. When you do well as a coach or as a player, there will always be speculation. And I know that what we have achieved “It’s not a run-of-the-mill thing, so of course then there will be speculation.”
