Godfred Dame plans to jail Ato Forson to score cheap political points: NDC alleges

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has alleged that the Attorney General, Godfred Dame, is orchestrating manipulations in the ongoing trial of Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

These accusations were revealed in a press release released today by the party on Wednesday, May 23.

This comes after the third defendant in the ambulance purchase trial, Richard Jakpa, claimed that he was previously approached by the Attorney General to help build a case against minority leader and former deputy finance minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

“The attorney general has hired me on several occasions at odd hours to help him file a case against A1 and I have proof of this… If you pressure me, I will open Pandora’s box. “I don’t understand why the attorney general will accuse me of defending A1 when I am here to defend myself,” Jakpa told the court.

“If you push me, I will open Pandora’s box. I have proof of all this,” she added on Thursday, May 23.

The NDC expressed concern over what it sees as a clear case of persecution against Dr Forson, who has been a leading figure in opposing the policies of the current government.

In the press release signed by President Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the NDC believes that this incident confirms the “legitimate and long-held suspicion about the devious modus operandi of Godfred Dame and the government he represents.”

“The NDC is deeply shocked by this clear case of persecution against the leader of the party group in Parliament who has been at the forefront of our fight against the misrule of the oppressive and despotic Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP regime,” the statement says. .

The NDC statement criticized the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration, accusing it of lacking integrity and perverting the course of justice.

“It further shows the extent to which the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP government is willing to go to manipulate judicial processes to unfairly victimize its political opponents in exchange for scoring cheap political goals.”

Nketia added that it “also confirms the dishonorable Attorney General’s lack of integrity and the extent to which he perverts the course of justice.”

The party has announced its intention to hold a press conference during which it will present evidence to support its claims.
