Potential 2x All-Star Trade Option for Philadelphia 76ers

If the Chicago Bulls trade Zach LaVine this summer, it will apparently be to a team that struck out elsewhere. While LaVine is a great player, his contract that runs through 2027 with a $48.9 million player option isn’t exactly attractive to teams looking to acquire a star this summer. That said, LaVine is the type of player who projects to fit well on many different teams and could be on the move this summer.

In a recent article, Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer revealed that LaVine could be an option for the Philadelphia 76ers if they strike out elsewhere.

“Striking out a big wing would also leave the door open for Philadelphia to consider bringing back a player like Zach LaVine, sources said, should Chicago or another team be willing to add draft capital to shed salary.” Fischer wrote.

This appears to be where most of the teams that are going after stars this summer in LaVine are located. While the Bulls’ star isn’t Donovan Mitchell or some of the other potentially available names, he is a career 20.5 points per game scorer who would seemingly benefit from being surrounded by better players than he was in Chicago.

While paying LaVine an average of $46 million over the next three seasons to be a third option isn’t what most teams would want to do, there are worse alternatives for teams looking for scoring help.
