Kieran McKenna update, Enzo Maresca stance, Sebastian Hoeness latest: Search for new Chelsea manager

Chelsea are now stepping up their efforts to hire a new head coach following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino earlier in the week.

The Blues and Pochettino parted ways on Tuesday, with the club confirming the mutual decision in a statement. Less than 48 hours after the statement, Chelsea are redoubling their efforts to hire a new manager. The club wants everything to develop as soon as possible, understand, so it’s not a summer-long saga.

Sebastian Hoeness, Kieran McKenna and Enzo Maresca are understood to be on the Blues’ list to replace Pochettino. Hoeness, who led VfB Stuttgart to Bundesliga runners-up in the 2023/24 season, is greatly admired by some at the club for his playing style and personality.

McKenna, equally, is admired for the work he has done at Ipswich Town. The 38-year-old has led the Tractor Boys back to the top flight for the first time in 22 years, after a sensational season in the Championship.

Maresca was the only man to beat McKenna in the second division last season, when the Italian led Leicester City back to the top flight immediately after their relegation. There are other candidates Chelsea are also said to be considering ahead of what is a hugely significant decision for the club’s ownership group.

There is a lot to talk about with Chelsea right now. That’s why we think it’s right to give followers the opportunity to ask Bobby Vincent Some questions about the latest management search.
