More than 160 young people graduate this week from the CAF Training Program in Zanzibar

The CAF Capacity Development Programme, one of the key components of the CAF African Continental Schools Football Championship, conducted a successful week-long educational program in Zanzibar, on the sidelines of the ongoing Continental Finals. currently taking place on the Island.

More than 160 young people have graduated from the Program this week.

Africa’s top legends, CAF legends Daniel Amokachi, Emmanuel Adebayor, Amanda Dlamini and Abdi Kassim are some of the names that joined Graduation.

The continental finals of the CAF African Schools Football Championship began on Tuesday this week and the final will be played on Friday, May 25, 2024 at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.

The Skills Development Program focuses on skills and development aimed at school children and aspiring officers.

Programs include the Young Referee Programme, the Young Medical Officers Programme, the Young Reporters Programme, the CAF D License Training course and the CAF Safeguarding Course, all run by CAF, with invited industry experts to educate and equip young people.

The third vice president of CAF, Souleiman Waberi, who was at the Graduation program, congratulated the participants.

“The graduation marks another milestone in the ever-developing history of African football. Young Africans, some still in their tender teens, from across the continent have been groomed to take African football to even greater heights. This speaks to the visionary leadership of CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe in developing future African leaders. Not only is this another innovative initiative by CAF, but it is also an exemplary position that African football is establishing for the continent to do the same to ensure that young Africans are educated and empowered,” Waberi said.

The ceremony was also attended by representatives from CECAFA, COSAFA and the Tanzania Football Federation, among other key football stakeholders.

The CAF African Schools Football Championship continental finals continue today.
