Two suspected drug dealers were arrested on Wednesday when detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) intercepted three bales of bhang with an estimated street value of Ksh360,000 in Busia County.

The suspects, Ferdinand Wanjero, 29, and Daniel Juma Mwadimwa, 26, were detained at Busia bus station after members of the public notified the police.

Police believe the bhang, found hidden in backpacks, was destined for Nairobi.

“The two men were seen at the bustling Busia bus station, preparing to board a Climax bus bound for Nairobi, carrying suspected narcotics in their bags,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said in a statement on X.

“Anti-narcotics officers responded quickly and managed to arrest the two and after an extensive search discovered the 12kg of cannabis sativa with an approximate street value of Sh360,000.”

The duo remains in custody awaiting trial.
