It is not true that you are suffering from ‘dumsor’ – Dr Opoku Prempeh tells NPP supporters at his inauguration

The newly unveiled running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has once again rejected the “dumsor” tag for the sporadic power cuts in the country.

He insists that there is no ‘dumsor’ as there was during the administration of former President John Mahama.

Power outages have occurred in various parts of the country, prompting calls for a power cut schedule.

Dr Opoku Prempeh dismissed the request, insisting that it was not necessary because there was no power management.

Addressing NPP members at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi on Tuesday, July 9, where he was crowned as the NPP presidential running mate, Opoku Premper said power outages under the current administration occur for maintenance purposes unlike in the past when power was simply switched on and off.

“It is never true that Ghana is going through a crisis. There is no doubt that it is not … Dumsoris you are foolish,” he stated.

According to him, the power cuts being experienced are an improvement compared to the situation under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

President Akufo-Addo had earlier said in his speech that the Minister of Power had successfully resolved the issue of erratic power supply.

According to him, those who claim that Dumsor’s cancer has returned are telling lies.

He added: “Yes, there have been some occasions, but he has done his best to ensure that the electricity supply in our country was available.”
