New Galaxy Z Fold 6 leak reveals Samsung’s bold design choice

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 will launch into a market with more foldable phones than ever. But now we know that Samsung is preparing to update the look of its foldable flagship to challenge the competition.

Longtime smartphone watcher Ice Universe has details on the new design of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. They have shown off Samsung’s new options for the rear camera housing. The individual lenses now come with raised black metal frames with circular details.

Samsung’s decision to now redesign the rear camera assembly is curious. With the rise of foldable devices from multiple manufacturers, the foldable form factor is moving away from its previous niche and into the mainstream market. Technological prowess is no longer enough; Design and fashion come into play.

Samsung has kept the same design of the Galaxy Z Fold for the last three years. Clearly, now is the time to revitalize it with a new look.

Whether this includes changes to the camera hardware remains to be seen. There are conflicting reports about Samsung updating the hardware to bring it closer to that used in the 2024 Galaxy S24 Ultra, while others suggest the hardware will remain consistent with this year’s Galaxy S24 and S24+, and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 from last year.

Samsung is expected to hold a Galaxy Unpacked launch event in early July in Paris ahead of the Summer Olympics.
